Rohe Kōreporepo

The Swamp
The Sacred Place

Our swamps are the solution we need to dig us out of the looming environmental disasters humanity faces. Here in Aotearoa New Zealand we have drained 90% of our swamps in the last 150 years. This film explores the re-flooding, re-creation and restoration of our repo, swamps, springs, bogs, fens and wetlands. It follows sixty kaitiaki repo/swamp guardians as they replant and re-flood our repo in the process of restoring our old and intimate relationships with Rohe Kõreporepo, our swamps, our sacred places.
